Teacher Support

Help to support teachers is needed as well as funds to send kids like this to school

We have been warned, maybe you have been warned that sponsorship money can be diverted to all sorts of purposes and if a family is so poor it needs money for food it is difficult to justify insisting that it is used as school fees or for uniforms or books.
Other people's priorities may not match our intentions.

So GTS offers two sponsorship choices.

Sponsorship for education - to pay for schooling, uniforms and books.

In both cases, GTS finds out what is needed and provides it, rather than giving money. May then keeps in regular contact to provide reports back to GTS, accounting for membership money or to direct sponsors.

By using GTS you can be sure that your money is going to the right people, for the things that you want to provided.

Our approach is informal and human, we provide an estimate of the costs for each child at each school and keep a full account of all the costs each individual incurs. (see Sponsor Costs in the left margin and also School Costs, which shows the enormous variation in costings between schools)

Sponsorship of a family - via a small loan to get a business up and running- often a disaster will strike (a death, or a roof blown off or an accident) that takes all of a families money - All that is needed is a small loan to buy materials for their business to support the whole family again.

We are not talking major money, GTS recently made a loan of £50 to a family to start a firewood business (early 2001) the business is now flourishing (September 2001) and the family is repaying the loan.
(After a number of attempts at this sort of Sponsorship GTS found that these businesses were not self sustaining and concentrated just on Employment and Education)

The more members we have the more help we can provide, but any additional help is always welcome - Thank you.
