Gambia Tourist Support

Member Discounts

The main principle of GTS is that 'host support' should cost members no more than using a major tour operator BUT will provide a better and more complete service.
Discounts can start before you travel.

Picking up Members from the Airport

Email GTS UK

In 2005 GTS became a registered UK charity under the name GETS.

GETS supports Education and Teaching in Gambia, it produces a bi-annual Newsletter which is available to GTS members by email.

Please send us anything that you think might be of interst to other members.

GTS Discounts fall into 5 main categories

1. There are some good Internet sites for flights
But beware some sites offer flights at prices that are not available and then call to say that flight has now gone up by £100 or more
If you are staying for more than 4 weeks, holiday charter flights are difficult and you need to book on a Monarch flight through The Gambia Experience.

In recent years Thomas Cook have been offering some good flight only deals

2. Trips, Activities and Accommodation in The Gambia.
--> The GTS directory not only indicates what is available to see and do in the Gambia - it also indicates the discounts members get at each venue.
--> Member accommodation at special prices at Kololi

3. Food and drink
--> The GTS Bar and Restaurant is for everyone
It supports the GTS approach to charity . . .

'Help people by providing a job & regular income, rather than providing handouts'

Everyone who stops to eat or drinks helps us, but we particularly welcome members and give a 10% discount off food purchased. Non members with a GTS member are charged at the normal price.
--> Catch you own fish and our GTS chefs will cook it for you at a discount.

4. Communications and money exchange in the UK and The Gambia
--> Money exchange from GTS Kololi. Details in members information pack.
--> Charity Money transfer - Details available to members on request
--> In the Gambia phone cards are available - GTS has some sim cards for members to rent during their holiday, but purchase of SIM cards is so cheap it is easiest to buy your own - make sure your mobile is unlocked.
--> Need money on your arrival - the GTS office can help until you can change your money

5. Airport transfers
--> GTS has always provided FREE transfer for members arriving in The Gambia. This provides a convenient way to beat the rush to the hotel and gets your holiday off to a start as soon as you arrive rather than waiting for the tour ops meeting well into day 2.
Each non member is charged £7.50
--> And for your return journey we suggest a morning excursion ending at the airport check in, again to beat the rush. The cost of the return transfer depends on the excursion booked for the morning, but is the equivalent of adding another day to your holiday.
--> If you are staying in our Kololi members accommodation at the standard rate both transfers are included, where you are staying on a discount deal return transport is £7
