Visits to any of the schools are greeted with jubilance by the kids, who love the stimulus of visitors.

Excursions give you a feel for the country, but you really get to know the Gambia and its people by going out and meeting the local people.

That can be daunting.

With a GTS host you know you can trust and rely on their integrity and honesty, so you can relax knowing that they are looking out for you.

More from the Shortt's after their return trip in June when they will have spent time with their GTS hosts.


The Shortt family stayed at the Palma Rima Hotel, but went on excursions to a school, on the Roots trip and of course round the local area and to local compounds, shown above with local friends
