Brett, has said he will try to get some of his 'Gambia trip' photos scanned when he is in the States and email them to me for the feedback pages. Like every organisation, GTS has operational problems, but we report ALL of them on the website along with the items of praise. GTS has grown from nothing in 1997 to what it is now, many of our visitors comment on the special GTS atmosphere and that is our unique ingredient - Our staff (with very very few exceptions) have been loyal and I think are proud to be part of GTS. This year the GTS Bar & Restaurant will stay open through the rainy season, where many others close, so GTS benefits from having the continuity of staff & we think that is what creates the friendly atmosphere. Kabs has managed where others have failed, to increase the staffing on the services side to five staff and has created a team who are as good at visiting schools to carry out their charity sponsorship role as they are at taking visitors into the local community. Hi Francis, As promised I would email with a report upon my return to England. Don't know if you noticed that I have posted comments in the GTS guestbook, saying how wonderful my trip was. Well as you know my trip started off with SNA airlines and the 2 day delay, but finally I made it to Banjul where friendly Kabs and Jerrah were waiting for me and took me to GTS Kololi where I met Musa (Moses) who was looking after the house. He was very friendly and was really happy to meet me and quickly became friendly and a few days later I went with him to naming ceremony at one of his friends and often used visit with him many other compounds where his family lived which I really enjoyed and gave me an insight into everyday Gambia life. I often ate at the GTS restuarant and bar where I found the food to be excellant and the staff ever so obliging and helpfull. After a few times of eating at GTS the staff were more like my friends than restuarant staff and often I would sit for hours just speaking to them when the restuarant was not busy. In terms of trips, my guide mainly was Modou, I went with him to James Island, Banjul, Kotu, Fajara, Bakau and also went with him for a four day trip to Dakar where we visited Goree island, Red Lake and the city of Dakar. Modou had some family in Dakar who we also spent some time with, they were ever so hospitable and we had many meals with them which also gave me a chance to experiance Senegalise culture which was great. I also went with Kabs on the GTS day out to rural Gambia and Tanji which was really great as well and particularly enjoyed visiting the rural farm. I also went with Kabs and Lamin ( head waiter) to night club to see DJ Lamin champ in a place near Yundum airport. I really loved it, we partied there untill about 4am. Another trip I did with Kabs was to Makustu which I also thouroughly enjoyed. I also made it to Georgetown but went with a company called "African Adventure Tours" which was also great. So all in all I did and saw a lot in the Gambia and Senegal. I really feel that GTS made this holiday for me and truly one of the best holidays of my life and I really dream one day to return to the Gambia and would just like to say I am sincerely gratefull to the people of the Gambia and GTS for making my time there such a fantastic one. Anyway, tomorrow I am leaving for the States and hopefully we can remain in touch via email and hopefully one day will visit the wonderful Gambia again. I really feel that the GTS is a real asset to the tourist industry in the Gambia and the people of the Gambia for all the charity work it does and the helping to give tourists an experiance of real genuine culture which they generally would never experiance from a tourist bus. Fondest regards, Brett Many thanks Brett, we all hope you have a great time in America, we know you will be a good advertiser of GTS while you are there and hopefull you'll be back to see us. 5 Top
